Purposeful design language elevates the launch of Candela C8

Swedish boat and ferry producers Candela’s main vision is to transform transport on the water with technology, enable electrification and vastly improve performance when comparing to combustion engines. The company is driving this vision through hydrofoiling electric boats and ferries, and with the release of their new C8 crafts, they’ve hit a new high.

Background

Candela’s main objective is to speed up the transition to fossil fuel-free water transportation with the help of their electrified marine transport solutions. To market their ground-breaking solutions, they needed a design language that aligned with their approach to contemporary industrial design. It was also evident that they were looking for more than a responsive website, but that the design had to encompass the Human-machine-interface (HMI) and the app control (Machine control software).

Solution

Stendahls collaborated with Candela, to secure a cohesive, user-centered design as well as intuitive functionality. Web and interaction design as well as UX work resulted in a visual user interface experience that aligns with Candela’s overall profile. To optimize sales flows, Stendahls were instrumental in the design and UX of a web configurator to facilitate customers perusing the different options and configurations. Additionally, Stendahls also assisted in safeguarding branding in all touchpoints.

Result

Through state-of-the-art React app development, Candela owners easily control the charging and commodities of their boat, while cruising the waves is made comfortable and intuitive thanks to groundbreaking HMI design and functionality. From meticulous attention to details and with a Scandinavian minimalistic approach to design, Candela’s UI and UX components stand true the test of time as a seagoing version of their collaborator Polestar.
